Tassman has been around for over three years now – one of a handful of software-based modular synthesizers on the market. The latest incarnation offers enough enhancements and improvements to keep existing users happy – and several new features which could extend its appeal further. Its main claim to fame is its integration of traditional analogue synthesis techniques and physical modelling – a combination to quicken the pulse of any synth aficionado. However, the program has been cleverly designed not to overwhelm the user, so anyone with a basic understanding of synthesis techniques should be up and running pretty quickly.
