Steinberg The Grand 3
There are no fewer than five pianos in The Grand 3, so does it sacrifice quality for quantity? Keith Gemmell finds out.

There are many virtual grand pianos to choose from at the moment. Some, like the Vienna Imperial, are a single instrument, while others (Ivory Grand Pianos, for example) feature several instruments. But don’t let’s forget that Steinberg set the ball rolling as far back as 2001 with its popular VST The Grand. The company’s latest release, The Grand 3, is a trio of grand pianos – the Yamaha C7, the Bösendorfer 290 Imperial and the Steinway D – plus two additional instruments, the vintage Yamaha CP80 Electric Grand, and an upright model, the Nordiska Pianofabriken.
Score: 9
