Two Notes Audio Engineering Torpedo VB-101
Need analogue amp sounds but without the SPLs and mic’ing problems associated with cabs? Mike Hillier finds a solution.

The options available to guitarists for effects, amp and speaker simulations is huge. Choose from all-digital in-the-box solutions like IK Multimedia’s AmpliTube and NI’s Guitar Rig or amps with built-in modelling such as the Line 6 Spider. You could also opt for all-analogue solutions like the Tech 21 SansAmp. However, as good as emulation is getting at modelling everything from the tonal characteristics to the frequency response over time and even the unique harmonic distortion patterns of different units, many guitarists still feel that when it comes to getting their own unique sound only the real thing will do.
