The history of Focusrite goes back to 1985, when the company was founded by legendary electronics guru Rupert Neve. The original concept was to build mixing desk-type channel modules into convenient 19-inch rackmount cases, but things faltered and Focusrite Ltd became insolvent in 1989. Focusrite Audio Engineering Ltd was established to acquire the assets of the original company and since then the brand has gone on to become a big name in the audio world. Rupert Neve is no longer involved with Focusrite, but the original concept of rackmounted desk-type modules survives and the expanded Focusrite product range caters for the project studio owner as well as professionals.
