Not so long ago, the idea of DJ’ing professionally without using a single vinyl LP or even a CD would have seemed far-fetched. Then Native Instruments created Traktor DJ Studio, and laptops gradually became as common a sight in clubs as crates of records. Smaller, more powerful computers and the proliferation of better audio compression formats such as MP3 and AAC have led to an explosion in digital DJ’ing – and Traktor has evolved to keep up with the times.
