Universal Audio’s UAD-1 system has gone from strength to strength, with an ever-growing number of musicians making use of both the extra processing power the UAD-1 and UAD-1e cards afford and the quality of the dedicated plug-ins that complete the package. As good as it undoubtedly is, however, the PCI-card format restricted the system to desktop computers, leaving laptop owners unable to enjoy the benefits of accelerated processing.
