Sean McManus University of Death

Price: £9.99

It’s not often that you’ll find a review of a novel within the pages of Music Tech (um, this is the first time, in fact), but this book took our fancy – the name itself provided ample hook. Fortunately, the name of the book refers to the name of the band around which the narrative centres rather than some sort of Torture Porn academy so popular within film right now. The band is fronted by the central character of Jonathan – an obsessive muso who’s taken a decade to craft the ‘perfect song’, the publication of which depends on the whim of a record studio honcho.
