Because an ever-increasing amount of the work we do when writing, recording and mixing music is done using a computer, the quality of the audio interfaces we use and the ways in which we control our software become increasingly important. The Edirol UR80 addresses both of these issues in one tidy package – and throws in a rather good GM2 sound module in the guise of the Edirol Hyper Canvas VSTi. There’s a lot here to look at, so let’s get down to the nuts and bolts.
