SE Electronics USB2200a

A plug‘n’play quality microphone ready for use whenever inspiration strikes? Huw Price sizes up the USB2200a...

Price: £222.00
Manufacturer: SE Electronics
Website: http://www.seelectronics.com

The USB2200a is a USB 2.0 microphone that features the same capsule and preamp electronics as the popular SE2200a. As well as an analogue XLR connector that accepts phantom power from a regular preamp, the USB2200a incorporates a special proprietary chip that effectively filters out any noise and spikes before bumping up the 5 volts supplied via the USB cable to polarise the capsule. So you really can plug the USB2200a straight into your computer and start recording at a quality that exceeds CDs (the record path is 16-bit/48k; the output is 24-bit/48k). It will also lock to 88.2kHz and 96kHz sample rates.

Score: 8
