The idea of dedicated, built-to-order audio PCs is not a new one. The fact that PCs can be built relatively easily, from components supplied by a wide range of manufacturers, means it’s easy to customise them to better perform certain tasks. In this case, the Vampire Rack from Athena Systems is a specialised audio PC. Not that it looks like one – in fact, in its 2U rack case and with six removable hard drive bays on the front, it bears more resemblance to a server than something you’d plug a guitar into.
