Ensuring the presence of deep, full bass within audio content is one of the holy grails of modern music production. For several years now, Waves has offered its MaxxBass plug-in for adding low frequency information to music, and the software has won much praise as a tool for ‘sharpening’ bass content during mastering. The plug-in can also be used to extend the perceived bass response of studio monitors – useful if you are monitoring on the tiny, lightweight speakers typically included with multimedia PC packages.
