The Hammond organ is a genuine musical icon, right up there with the likes of the Fender Rhodes and Stratocaster. More than almost any other instrument, it has spanned every musical genre and found favour with an incredibly diverse array of artists and bands. Its sound is instantly recognisable, and although very frequently emulated, it is seldom – if ever – matched for quality.
