Allen & Heath ZED R16
Allen & Heath has added the first new mixer to its ZED series in over a decade. It’s analogue, it’s digital and it’s a MIDI controller, too. Huw Price checks out the R16.
Price: £1,819.00
Manufacturer: Allen & Heath
Website: http://www.allen-heath.com

The ZED R16 looks like a regular analogue mixer and indeed it is – if that’s what you want it to be. It has 16 channels with individual microphone inputs and up to 60dB of gain, switchable phantom power and a switchable 100Hz high-pass filter. Next comes a bypassable EQ section with +15dB of shelving EQ at 80Hz and 12kHz and two parametric sections that cover a frequency range from 18Hz to 18kHz with individual Q controls.
Score: 9
